Complying with laws and lawful requests, responding to regulators or law enforcement, managing claims, disputes and proceedings, and maintaining records to demonstrate compliance.

7. Automated decision-making and AI

We may use algorithms, scoring models and automated tools (including AI and machine learning) to rank or recommend listings, detect suspected fraud or suspicious activity, and tailor content or offers. As at the date of this policy we do not rely on automated decision-making alone to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects without human review. If you have concerns about an automated outcome you can contact us and we will review the decision where reasonably practicable.

8. Cookies, tracking technologies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to recognise you and your devices, keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand and improve service performance, measure marketing effectiveness and deliver relevant ads and content. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, in some cases, in-product controls or third-party opt-out tools. Disabling cookies may limit certain features.

10. Who we disclose your personal information to

10.1 Other Doggo users

When you interact through the marketplace we may share relevant contact and transaction information between buyers, breeders, rescues and partners to enable the transaction and any follow-up.

10.2 Service providers

We share information with trusted providers that help operate, secure and improve the Doggo Services (hosting, cloud storage, payments, identity verification, analytics, marketing, communications, customer support, professional advisers and more). These providers only receive information necessary to perform their services and are required to handle it in line with privacy laws where practicable.

10.3 Business partners

We may share limited information with partners (e.g. pet insurers, trainers, product brands) when you access or redeem an offer or when sharing is necessary to fulfil a benefit you requested. Partners are responsible for their own privacy practices.

10.4 Corporate transactions

Personal information may be disclosed to prospective or actual purchasers and their advisers in connection with mergers, acquisitions, restructures or similar transactions subject to confidentiality.

10.5 Regulators, law enforcement and legal claims

We may disclose information when required or authorised by law, including to regulators, law enforcement agencies, courts or tribunals, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), or other parties to establish, exercise or defend legal claims or protect rights, property or safety.

11. Overseas disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to recipients outside Australia, including in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states, New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate. Common examples include cloud hosting, analytics, email, customer support and identity verification services. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients do not breach applicable privacy principles, though they may not be subject to Australian laws. By using the Doggo Services you consent to these overseas disclosures where required.

12. Security of your personal information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures include secure data centres and cloud infrastructure, encryption where appropriate, access controls, multi-factor authentication for internal systems, regular security testing and monitoring, staff training, and incident response procedures. No system is completely secure, so please contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

13. Data retention and destruction

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law (e.g. taxation and financial record-keeping). When information is no longer required and we are not legally required to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

14. Access to and correction of your personal information

14.1 How to request access or correction

You can usually access and update your information via your account settings. If you cannot find what you need, contact us using the details in section 16 and we may ask you to verify your identity. In some cases we may charge a reasonable fee to provide access (for example to cover retrieval and copying costs) but will not charge you to make a request.

14.2 When we may refuse access or correction

We may refuse requests where providing access would unreasonably impact the privacy of others, where information is subject to legal professional privilege, where providing access would be unlawful or required to be refused, or where the information relates to legal disputes and would not be discoverable. If we refuse, we will provide written reasons and inform you how to complain.

15. Notifiable data breaches

We assess and respond to incidents in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme. Where we have reasonable grounds to believe an eligible data breach has occurred and serious harm is likely, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as soon as practicable and provide recommended steps you can take in response.

16. Your privacy rights and complaints

Depending on your location you may have additional rights under other privacy regimes (for example EU or UK data protection laws). Contact us if you wish to exercise those rights and we will consider your request in accordance with applicable law.
